Job Responsibilities
- Prepare treatment rooms for dental procedures by sterilizing instruments and setting up necessary materials.
- Assist the dentist during procedures by handing them tools, suctioning, and taking X-rays.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including medical history and treatment plans.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene and answer questions about procedures or treatments.
- Sterilize and prepare dental instruments and equipment for procedures, maintaining a sterile and organized work environment.
- Take and develop dental radiographs as directed by the dentist and ensure their proper storage and labeling.
- Maintain accurate patient records, documenting treatments, procedures, and post-operative instructions.
- Adhere to strict infection control protocols, ensuring the safety of patients and staff.
- Provide patients with oral hygiene instructions and post-operative care information.
- Collaborate with the dental team, including the dentist, hygienists, and office staff, to deliver a seamless patient experience.
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a dental assisting program preferred.
- Must have a current Dental Assistant certification and X-ray certification.
- At least 2 years of experience working as a dental assistant is preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of dental procedures, instruments, software, and equipment.
- Strong knowledge of infection control procedures and practices.
- Attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate patient records.
- Collaborative, with the ability to work well within a team environment.
Skills
- Proficiency in chairside assisting during various dental procedures, including examinations, cleanings, fillings, extractions, and oral surgeries.
- Ability to sterilize dental instruments and maintain a clean and safe treatment environment.
- Competence in taking and developing dental radiographs.
- Strong organizational skills to maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
