Gusto builds payroll and benefits in-house so everything stays in sync. And with access to certified HR pros, you always know who to call for help.

Businesses looking for all-in-one HR may consider Zenefits for their many HR features. However, Zenefits outsources some core functionality, like benefits to a third-party brokerage. This means data could frequently move between different systems, increasing the risk for errors. And with no phone line for Zenefits support, it could be even more difficult to resolve issues.

Gusto is built to be reliable, simple, and easy to use for small businesses. With payroll at the core of our platform, benefits deductions, PTO balances, and employee data stays dependably in sync.

Namely offers an all-in-one HR platform with a focus on employee engagement. However, Namely is tailored to larger businesses, and features such as payroll and benefits are add-ons—not core to their platform. They also charge extra fees per employee for these additional services.

Gusto is built for small businesses. With years of experience and payroll expertise in all 50 states, we integrate with accounting software and offer access to HR experts and tons of integrated benefits, like health insurance, 401(k) plans, and more.

BambooHR offers HR software to manage larger teams and PTO. They do not offer payroll, benefits or HR advisory services.

With Gusto’s Concierge plan, you get on-call compliance experts to help with HR, payroll, and benefits, along with great software that does payroll tax filings, W-2s, and 1099s all for you. The cost per employee is often much lower, and you retain full control over your employees’ and company’s data.

PEOs, such as TriNet, offer businesses the ability to fully outsource their HR and payroll. While this can make compliance easier for small businesses, it can come at a high cost per employee. PEO customers can end up paying for a bunch of extra services they don’t use. They also tend to give up flexibility and visibility in how they manage their employees.
