Our namesake, Luca Pacioli, was a 15th-century mathematician (and monk!) who literally wrote the book on double-entry bookkeeping. His ability to integrate ideas from a range of disciplines in philosophy, theology, engineering and mathematics helped him add significant value to the field of accounting. Merchants the world over were able to more effectively grow their businesses.
