Starting March 1, 2025, the monthly subscription fee will increase from $40 + $6 per month per person, to $49 + $6 per month per person for new and existing clients on the Simple plan.

At Gusto, we’re committed to continuously improving our Simple plan to deliver even greater value to the small and medium businesses you serve. We’ve been hard at work on new enhancements and are excited to keep them coming. Here’s a quick look at recent enhancements:

Recent Additions to the Simple plan:

Custom Reports:  Quickly access the data you need, when you need it, without having to sort through pre-built templates or manipulate multiple reports.

Payroll Approvals: Enables team members to review and approve payroll before submission.

Custom Roles: Customize permissions based on employee’s specific responsibilities.

All existing clients on the Simple plan will be moved to the new pricing on March 1, 2025. 

However, a temporary discount will automatically be applied to your recent Simple clients: Clients who selected the Simple plan between September 1, 2024 and February 28, 2025–regardless if they have run payroll–will automatically receive a $9/month discount for 6 months, covering from March 2025 to August 2025. Starting on September 1, 2025, they will be billed the new Simple plan price.

Please note: To determine whether a client is a “recent Simple client”, we consider the last action that brought them to the Simple plan. 

For example: if a client joined the Simple plan on September 1, 2024, then upgraded to the Plus plan on December 1, 2024, then downgraded back to the Simple plan on February 28, 2025, we consider February 28, 2025 the last action and therefore they qualify for the “recent Simple client” discount for 6 months.

Existing Simple clients who are billed directly by Gusto will be notified on January 30, 2025 about this change. We will not be communicating new Simple plan pricing update with your firm-billed clients.

Any clients who have not selected the Simple plan by February 28, 2025 will be put on the new Simple plan pricing starting on March 1, 2025.
