Paraprofessional Job Description

Job Responsibilities

• Assist classroom teachers in delivering lessons and instructional activities to students
• Provide one-on-one or small group support for students, including those with special needs, to help reinforce learning
• Supervise students during class activities, recess, lunch, and other school events
• Help students with assignments, projects, and homework, ensuring they stay on task and understand the material
• Manage classroom behavior and help maintain a positive, productive learning environment
• Assist with grading assignments, setting up classroom materials, and preparing educational resources
• Monitor student progress and report any concerns to the lead teacher
• Support students with social, emotional, and behavioral challenges as needed
• Help students with personal care tasks, including feeding, toileting, and mobility, if necessary
• Follow established school policies and guidelines to ensure a safe and nurturing learning environment

Job Qualifications

• A high school diploma or equivalent is required
• An Associate's degree or higher in education, special education, or a related field is preferred
• Experience working with children in a classroom or educational setting is highly desirable
• Depending on the school district, certification or training in special education or paraprofessional support may be required
• You should be patient, empathetic, and capable of working effectively with students who have diverse learning needs

Salary Range

The salary for this position ranges from $30,000 to $40,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. Additional benefits, including health insurance, paid time off, and retirement plans, may be available.
