Frequently Asked Questions
Standard ACH (Automated Clearing House) transfers take 1–3 business days to post, so payroll must be run multiple days in advance. Gusto’s instant payroll platform removes the normal waiting period for direct deposits and instead delivers paychecks instantly into employees’ accounts. If a payroll is eligible for Instant pay, you’ll see the option when you go to run payroll. No need to sign up or enroll.

Gusto’s instant payment solutions for payroll, including Instant pay and Same-day pay, will only appear for payrolls after your normal payroll deadline has passed. If a payroll is not eligible, you won’t see the options when you go to run payroll.
Gusto offers next-day, two-day, and four-day direct deposit speeds. Next-day payroll is only available to Plus and Premium accounts, while two-day direct deposit is available to all customers after a 15-day waiting period and a successful payroll run. Payroll must be run before 4pm PST the day before for next-day payroll, 4pm PST two days before for 2-day payroll, and 4pm PST four days before payday in order for payroll to arrive on time.
No. Instant pay and Same-day Pay payrolls cannot be cancelled or reversed. If a payment is made in error, funds must be recovered directly from the employee.
Yes. Instant Pay costs $100 per payroll run, and Same-day pay costs $90 per payroll run. Instant payroll solutions are available with all Gusto plans, and fees will be added to your monthly invoice.
