Announcing the #WorkWithGusto Contest Winners

Andrea Garcia-Vargas Communications, Gusto

The #WorkWithGusto contest is over! A huge thank you to all the small businesses who participated in our contest by posting photos of their team and sharing the unique ways they support their employees.

We scored entries based on 3 criteria we laid out in the official rules:

  • Creativity of the team photo (30% of the score)
  • Originality of how the business helps employees thrive in work and in life (50% of the score)
  • Overall presentation (20% of the score)

We selected the businesses with the top 10 scores as our #WorkWithGusto winners. Here’s the full list below.

“WINGS UP!” . Our internal rallying cry. It represents our bond as a team and as a family of creatives. What does that look like when it’s brought to life? . It looks like… The team spending quality time with one another. Whether it’s at Friday lunch at the local taco shop, or happy hour at the brewery up the street, we take time every week for each other outside of the office. . It looks like… Caring for one another’s health and well-being. Our leadership works hard to make sure we take our physical and mental health seriously by providing us with unlimited sick days (imagine being encouraged to stay home when you’re sick!) and mental resilience training workshops. . It looks like… Collaborating on projects to push past our creative limits. We may go into our design caves on some days, but most of the time we’re in workshops together or leaning across our desks to get help with something. Our open work space lends itself to lots of support. . It looks like… Celebrating each other’s milestones and successes. We don’t half-ass birthdays here, we full-ass them. We celebrate each team member in their own special way – with personal introvert gardens, eternally scrolling beards, or personalized slack emojis. . It looks like… Having a strong value system that guides us daily. Gratitude, Responsibility, Integrity, Candor, and Excellence (“G-RICE” if you will) never fail to help us build stronger relationships with our clients and each other. . In the end, it looks like a healthy and happy team who genuinely loves spending time together. Our connections run deep and we wouldn’t have it any other way. . Wings up! . #purposemakesbrandsmatter #workwithgusto #contest

Our team is small. Our values are not. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ One value that’s on our mind right now: together. And, we’ve heard that you want to hear more stories, so here’s a glimpse into how that underpins everything we do.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Every Wednesday (the only day we’re all working in the same location), we start our work day with hot coffee or tea, pull over the ottomans or sprawl on the floor, and we share. We share a victory, a challenge, and a need, and they range from tactical objectives to deep-seated vulnerabilities. One of us is discovering the importance of delegation with a new house and a baby on the way. Our CEO is navigating uncharted waters of making the bigger bets that come with scaling the business. Another one of us expresses the inner conflict of switching between her right and left-brained perspectives. And, one of our team members is coming into the home stretch for a Master's degree – a degree that has been hard-earned while bringing a second kiddo into this world – and is feeling all the emotions about this milestone.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It's true; we're working so hard, all in pursuit of our mission to amplify goodness, and, once a week, we sit down together and expose our victories, fears and insecurities. We prioritize this sharing space — it’s non-negotiable (pro tip: protecting time for this is more important than many other business activities). Ultimately, we are here to support you and we start by supporting each other.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ @gustohq #workwithgusto #contest⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #communityvibes #communityiseverything #findyourpeople #risetogether #peoplehelpingpeople #leanonme #thisismycommunity #supportnetwork #friendsturnedfamily #extendedfamily #workfamily #shareyourgoodness #thegoodnessinyou #goodnessforall #spreadgoodness #weareenough #mysuperpower #therealyou #sharegoodness #youareenough

The #WorkWithGusto Contest Rules

Nominate a small business that helps its employees thrive at work and in life.

Maybe it provides a perk that lets the team balance work and wellbeing. Maybe it creates a positive and safe environment that allows employees to be their most authentic selves. Or maybe the business makes an effort to help everyone genuinely connect with their team and love their workday. Whatever it does, we want to hear about it.

Post a team photo of the business you’re nominating and tell us what unique thing a small business does to help its people thrive. If your nomination is selected, the business you’ve nominated will win $1,000 to do something special for the team #WorkWithGusto.

Eligibility

Open to all people who are residents of the 50 United States or District of Columbia, who are at least 18 years old at the time of entry and work at a business with fewer than 100 employees. Signing up for Gusto or additional social media posts will not improve the chances of winning.

Entry period

This contest begins on September 10, 2019 at 12:01am ET and ends on November 10, 2019 at 11:59pm ET.

How to Enter

To enter: (1) Share your stories on Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, or Twitter by publicly responding to the prompt; (2) Follow Gusto on Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, or Twitter; and (3) Tag us @gustohq and use the hashtags #WorkWithGusto and #contest. Nominees will be contacted directly through social media.

Judging criteria

Winners will be selected by a Gusto committee. Small business entries will be judged on the following criteria: (a) creativity of the photo: 30%; (b) originality of how business helps employees thrive at work and in life: 50%; (c) overall presentation: 20%.

Prize

The top 10 businesses, identified by internal Gusto deliberation, will win $1,000 to spend on any team-bonding offsite, event, or activity of their choosing. Winners will be asked to send in expense receipts for the activity they spent the money on, as well as pictures of their team-bonding activity.

Official Rules

No purchase necessary. The #WorkWithGusto Social Contest (the “Contest”) sponsored by ZenPayroll, Inc., dba Gusto (“Gusto”) is open only to legal residents of any of the fifty (50) United States or the District of Columbia (void where not permitted) who are (i) at least 18 years of age and at least the age of majority in their state of residence on the date of entry and (ii) who work at a business that employs fewer than one hundred (100) full-time and/or part-time employees.
