Welcome Amelia Generalis, Chief People Officer

I’m excited to welcome Amelia Generalis to Gusto as our Chief People Officer. As Gusto continues to grow, Amelia will play a key role in ensuring our culture scales with us—intentionally, and in service to the small businesses we support. We are proud to serve over 400,000 small businesses, and we know we are still early in our journey. Some recent ways we’re helping small businesses include Gusto Bill Pay, our AI-powered assistant, Gus, and the Gusto Compliance Hub.

Amelia brings deep experience in scaling people operations and building purpose-driven environments at fast-growing technology companies. She comes to Gusto from Opendoor, where she led the People team.

Small business is the heart of what we do here at Gusto. And, like many Gusties, Amelia’s personal connections to small businesses run deep. She grew up in a small town in Mississippi where, in her words, “every business was a small business.” Those early experiences were formative in shaping Amelia’s commitment to people and community. And even now, she makes a point to shop small—most especially at a family-owned nursery and gift shop near her Bay Area home.

Gusto is committed to helping small businesses be successful. We’re excited to partner with Amelia as we look ahead to what’s next: the continued growth of the small business economy, the ongoing expansion of our products to solve even more of their pain points, and the transformative power of technologies like AI in making it easier than ever to start, run and grow a business.
