“Life is really simple, but we insist on making it complicated.”  — Confucius

Gusto won’t let the same be said for payroll.

Our team is excited to share two big feature updates! The first is designed to help business owners navigate complex compliance laws, and the second automates the manual process of calculating departmental expenses.

Just like everything we build, these upgrades are all about making payroll easy and the lives of small business owners a little bit easier, too.

So, what’s new?

Updates to Time Off

Rewarding employees with time away for their hard work is a great way to cultivate a healthy office culture. However, keeping track of how much vacation your employees have accrued and how many days they have already taken off – well, that can be hard work.

That’s why we’ve made some changes to our Time Off feature that will make it even easier to use. You can now track time off in a few more ways:

  • A fixed amount awarded throughout the year
  • A fixed amount awarded at once
  • A variable rate based on time worked

We’ve also included helpful guidance around local time off requirements. Every year, millions of small business owners get fined for incorrect payroll and other compliance issues. Since many states and localities are constantly changing their mandatory time off and sick leave rules, it can be hard to keep up. Our revamped Time Off feature will make these requirements crystal clear and easy to put in place for your business.

New Teams Feature

Budgeting and forecasting can be a real headache for businesses of all shapes and sizes. If you want to analyze your expenses by department or job function, it can involve a lot of cutting and pasting and re-calculating. As a result, it’s easy to make tiny errors that can turn into big problems down the line.

We’ve made things much simpler. With our new Teams feature, you can group individuals and teams together for easier departmental reporting and budget analysis. This is super useful for larger organizations and a must-have for accountants.

As always, we’d love to hear from you! Feel free to shoot us an email and let us know how you’re using these services.
