Alex Lipscomb, President of ALL MAVEN, a small business development firm, was having trouble thinking of the perfect brand language for her company. They were in the process of rebranding and she had been contemplating it for months.

She pulled in Cydney, her co-owner and first hire, for a brainstorming session. Cydney turned things around immediately.

“I had plenty of sessions working on brand language for quite some time and man, we were really struggling to communicate it. She nailed it in 15 minutes,” said Alex.

When Alex heard about the new Personal Notes feature on Gusto, which lets employers send a special note to any employee when running payroll, she couldn’t wait to give it a whirl. Once Alex ran payroll, Cydney received the note on her payday email and her online paystub.

At Gusto, our mission is not only to create the easiest (and most delightful!) way to pay employees, but also to make the bond between employees and employers even stronger.

That’s why we’re excited to bring the joy of thank-you notes to payroll with “Personal Notes,” a quick and easy way to make payday an even more delightful experience.

Employers can leave notes about anything, whether it’s:

  • Thanking someone for putting in extra hours that week
  • Acknowledging a job well done on a big project
  • Giving a spot bonus
  • Celebrating a birthday

To leave a note, employers simply type in a message when they run payroll, and the note will appear on payday notification emails and on the actual paystub itself.

In addition to Alex, the feature has already been a hit among other customers, including Marc Elias, Canine Executive Officer (best title ever, if we do say so ourselves) at New York-based Pooch Pals.

“We love the new Gusto Personal Note feature,” he said. “This is a great way to recognize employee birthdays and personal achievements, plus reward people for superb performance. We believe that showing and telling our employees they are appreciated is crucial to creating a happy and healthy company culture.”

We think this will fast become a favorite feature and hope you enjoy adding a personal touch to payday.
