Many business tasks today are complicated and overwhelming because they are manual, time-consuming and complex. Unfortunately, small business owners must take time and focus away from their businesses and teams to tackle these tasks. Big industrial solutions serve large companies, where work is often less rewarding than it should be, and where people are often treated as numbers or “resources.”

That’s why Gusto exists.

We launched Gusto to be the people platform that will equip every employer, everywhere with everything they need to start, build, and take care of their team. For many small businesses, Gusto provides the opportunity to create great workplaces in ways traditionally only large companies could afford.

To push our work forward, I’m thrilled to introduce Danielle Brown, who is joining Gusto as chief people officer. At Gusto, Danielle will help advocate for the 6 million small businesses in the US that form the backbone of our economy — on critical people issues like diversity, compliance, and employee engagement. She will, in turn, be a part of our efforts to level the playing field for the 60 million people currently employed by small businesses.

Danielle has dedicated her career to helping foster humanity at work. Most recently, she served as vice president, employee engagement and chief diversity and inclusion officer at Google, where she focused on ensuring their workplace and culture were respectful, safe, and inclusive — values we hold paramount at Gusto.

Danielle will be an incredible addition to the Gusto team. Our foundation is strong, but there is more work to be done in building a company and product that better enables all small businesses in the US to create great workplaces.

Our mission is to create a world where work empowers a better life, and we’re thrilled that Danielle is joining us on this journey.

P.S. Danielle shared her thoughts about joining Gusto as well. I recommend checking them out!
