What’s happening and when
We introduced the new pricing plans in Summer 2022. The new plans are more straightforward than our legacy plans - Core, Complete, and Concierge - and they have more robust features for complex needs. Our new plans also introduce more flexibility for customers to select the service model that’s the right fit for them.
Since Covid distributed more workers, hiring across states is an advancing trend we don’t see going anywhere. We want to enable your clients’ hiring success and help them provide benefits to employees, no matter where they are. Given that multi-state employers have more complex needs for taxes, HR compliance, benefits compliance, and benefits servicing, we needed to update our lineup of plans to better match their needs and value to the right tier of plan, allowing us to deliver the appropriate service.
Check out the pricing page for feature lists, plan-by-plan comparisons, and to review add-ons. Details about what’s included in our legacy Core, Complete, Concierge, and Select plans, are also still available here.
Yes. Performance reviews, along with employee surveys and insights are now available starting with the Plus plan. Previously, they were only available in the Premium plan.
We are focused on delivering a great customer experience and continuing our journey of improvements to ensure the timely and proper resolution of all customer support inquiries. From enabling the right technology, to simplifying our phone routing and tax resolution in-app submission, we are committed to continuously adapting our service to ensure we are a trusted partner to your business. We understand that payroll, tax, and benefits administration are complex and are here to help and ensure you are in compliance, providing time to focus on your business worry-free.
When are plans changing
We want to make sure this is as seamless as possible for both your business so we are offering a grace period until September 1 to help with the transition.
For businesses that are on one of the legacy plans, they will have until September 1, 2023 to select one of the new plans. If a new plan is not selected by September 1, 2023, Gusto will automatically match them to the plan that best matches their legacy plan.
Businesses that are on the contractor-only plan or S-corp plan will not be affected.
The new pricing and any applicable pricing adjustments will be reflected in the invoice starting in the month the change takes place. For example, change in August will be reflected on the September 1 invoice.
Hiring in new states
If you’re on Simple and you add an employee who lives in a new state, you will be prompted to upgrade to Plus or Premium for running payroll in multiple states. You’ll be asked to switch plans before you can add this person to your payroll.
Contractor payroll taxes are filed differently than W-2 employees, so contractors don’t count as an employee in a new state. If you only have full time W-2 employees in one state and hire contractors in another state, you can remain in the Simple plan if it fits your needs.
