Andy’s Auto Sport used ADP for more than a decade, and initially they switched to Gusto in an effort to save costs and overhead. “I was so used to doing things the old way, I just needed someone to open my eyes,” Eric says.
“The cost savings have indeed been huge — more than 50 percent compared to ADP,” he says. “ADP had a timecard function too, and we filled that void by switching to WhenIWork when we started using Gusto. Even so, when you add it all together, we’re still saving more than half.”

Other savings came in the form of the reduced manpower needed to report and administer both payroll and employee records. “Gusto gives employees access to update and maintain their own records, including address, tax filing preferences, and automatic deposit preferences,” Eric says.
The time saved is Eric’s favorite part of making the switch: “I spend around 20 minutes/month doing any sort of payroll-related activities. With ADP, I spent around three hours to do the same thing. I had to use two different websites to run payroll, in addition to manually mailing paychecks out. Since our company is ‘lean and mean,’ those extra couple hours mean a lot to me! I didn’t realize how much easier and cost-effective payroll processing could be.”
Eric Ferguson wasn’t much of a car guy when his father recruited him into Andy’s Auto Sport right out of college. When his father purchased the business from the original Andy in 2000, the business manufactured after-market body kits to customize vehicles; it later expanded into general style and performance-based accessories and e-commerce.

Believing everyone needs basic knowledge to make educated buying decisions, he created Andy’s Auto Sport TV, 180+ videos about different car accessories that have reached nearly 10 million views so far.
“We’ve made a name for ourselves by providing unique, enriching educational content for customers,” Eric says. Andy’s gets more than one million unique visitors on their site every month, and they’ve grown revenue 20x since they purchased the business.

“One time, I needed help changing a tax filing with the state of CA,” he explains. “I wasn’t able to get ADP’s help with this at all, but Gusto’s customer service rep contacted the state on our behalf and helped us get everything ironed out.
