Hello, New York! We’re Gusto.

Danielle Brown Chief People Officer, Gusto

Small businesses have played an important role in my life. My grandparents and parents were small business owners, and growing up, I spent summers working at their businesses and seeing firsthand the creativity, ingenuity, and hard work it takes to succeed. I also learned about the significant impact small businesses have in their communities and in the lives of the people that work there.

Admittedly, my experience is not extraordinary, especially at Gusto. Today 1,000 of my colleagues at Gusto join me every day, motivated by a common goal of serving small businesses and providing them with everything they need to start and build their team. We recognize that for us to continue to scale and grow, our team must be more representative of the customers we serve, which is one of the many reasons why Gusto is opening an office in New York City.

We took a very deliberate approach when locating our third homebase. We searched for a place aligned with our small business ethos and our mission based on community-powered economic growth and social responsibility. It’s why we’re proud New York City—the epicenter of small business in New York State where small businesses make up 99.8 percent of all businesses—will be a long-term home for us.

We recognize that we are still very early in our journey at Gusto, and we have a lot more to do.  We’re going to need some amazing talent to help us innovate and scale. Over the next few years, we expect to welcome hundreds of designers, engineers, product owners, and other technologists to our Gusto community.

It’s humbling to think that together we can challenge an age-old industry which has traditionally seen people as capital or as resources.

But we know better. We understand that work, business, and life itself are all about people. If you are passionate about creating a world where work empowers a better life for every person, we invite you to reach out to us and say hello. We’re hiring!
