"While staying in San Antonio on business, I had an opportunity to visit the Alamo Antique Mall, right in the heart of the city, near La Mansion,the famous River Walk and the Alamo. There are three floors of dealers, displaying all manner of fine porcelains, art glass, depression glass, ephemera, silver, toys, vintage goodies, pottery, collectibles and “smalls” as well as the funky, the unusual and rare at GREAT PRICES! I was able to purchase a gorgeous set of 5 authentic antique Limoges Watteau plates in cobalt blue trimmed in gold, as well as an old English Minton comport, and a lovely Carl Thieme Dresden plate for less than $300.00! The staff that day were marvelous, “Lovey” was sweet, accomodating and patient, while Belinda was cheerful, energentic and truly humantarian! In the middle of shopping we looked out horrified to see a black sky, bursts of lightening, hail the size of rocks, and torrential flooding rain! While another customer and I were worried about how to get back to our hotels without damage to our goodies or becoming drenched, Belinda cheerfully insisted on driving us directly to our places of lodging! Talk about good old fashioned customer service! It’s that Texas heart and Texas pride, I guess! While I did get to visit the Center for Antiques way up on Broadway, and can recommend it, if you can only visit one shop, the ALAMO ANTIQUE CENTER is my best pick! Enjoy!"
