For a glimpse into New York’s glamour of yesteryear, stay in style at the posh Warwick New York. You’re in good company: Cary Grant lived here for 12 years, and everyone from The Beatles to Elvis Presley stayed here when visiting the city. The Warwick New York was built in 1926 by William Randolph Hearst for his lover Marion Davies, and together they hosted many a lavish party for all their film and theater acquaintances. In fact, Hearst was such a theater lover that he chose the hotel site because the renowned Ziegfeld Theater sat directly opposite. New York has changed since then, but the Warwick still boasts famous neighbors: The gleaming new MoMA now sits across the street, and you’re also within strolling distance of Broadway, the Theater District and Central Park. The sophisticated lobby features European-style décor, with stuffed chairs and grand chandeliers, while the handsome rooms have massive comfortable beds and sparkling marble bathrooms.
