The Carriage House is a non-gaming hotel just off the Strip. It’s a chip’s throw away from the Aladdin, New York-New York, Paris, Bally’s and the Bellagio. Even without in-house gambling, it does have some nice features, and there is something to be said for staying somewhere that doesn’t make you walk through a casino to get to the elevator. The Carriage House is ideal for extended stays or those on a budget because of the airy, spacious, and homey feel to the guest rooms, as well as the full kitchenette available in some rooms. These rooms also come fully stocked with utensils, coookware, flatware, etc. so you don’t have to bring any of your own or buy cheap plastic replacements while you’re here. The hotel also offers full tennis and basketball courts, available to guests only. After your workout, head to the Joey Bistro inside. Dine on the usual Italian fare – pizza, pasta with a rich marinara sauce, vino – and get a good meal for a good price, with approachable bottles of wine priced under $25. The bistro also boasts panoramic views from New York to Paris. Rat Pack music is piped into the retro-styled dining room, where a lunch consisting of not one but several martinis seems entirely in keeping with the theme of old Vegas. Business travelers particularly enjoy the Carriage House. The rooms are work-friendly and comfortable, and the hotel is quieter than the neighboring casinos. Just don’t work too hard. The glamorous and exiting world outside beckons, and it really is only a chip’s throw away.
