There is a great deal of Vegas history at the Aladdin (this is where Elvis and Priscilla got married), which makes nostalgics a bit teary-eyed at the thought of the imminent renovations. If you want to walk through the Cave of Wonders, jump on your magic carpet and get to the Aladdin soon. If you don’t, you might be greeted at the door by the Terminator rather than a genie. But until Arnie, Sly and Bruce show up, it’s all about 1,001 Arabian Nights. Genie lamps and carpets greet you at every turn, and that rumbling you’re hearing overhead means rain is about to fall in the souk-themed shopping mall called the Desert Passage. Exquisite Moroccan tile work gives the theme substance, but it’s the kitschy details that will make you smile – magic lamp-shaped faucet handles and the like. Deluxe rooms feature rich burnt orange and sienna colors, while resort rooms are lighter in tone with cheery yellows and deep blue and burgundy accents. Resort rooms also feature granite baths, separate showers, and ambient bathroom lighting.

The Aladdin is famous for not making its guests walk through the casino to get their rooms, which adds a nice touch of civility. For even more civility, try Curve, the swanky bar with the expensive views and drinks priced to match. The outside patio, home of the aforementioned view, offers heat lamps to ward off the evening chill. With eight separate rooms, Curve caters to all, whether you want to drink, dance, or mingle. The crowd here is upscale and sophisticated, which is reflected in the decor. Sumptuous leather couches invite conversation, while the flickering candles on each table provide the ambiance for a tête a tête that simply isn’t possible in many other clubs. The Aladdin also boasts the London Club, a European-style gaming club in partnership with London Clubs International. It’s a taste of Monte Carlo, and those who have watched just about any James Bond movie know what to expect. Instead of the flashing lights and tinny clanking of slot machines, here you’ll find more continental fare such as baccarat, roulette, and craps. London Club features round-the-clock butler service as well as its own elevator.

A bit expensive but clean and fun

"We stayed here this past August 2007 and it was really enjoyable. The rooms were clean, staff was friendly and even the casino wasn't that smokey. The price of the rooms are a bit high for the quality that you get. I did expect something a bit more lavish for the price that we paid. The room felt like something you'd get at a Holiday Inn rather than a nicer upscale hotel. It's definitely MUCH worse than when it was the Aladdin. That place at least had an aire of class."

worse than Aladdin...

Reviewed by prestici on June 25, 2008

"I think this place has gone downhill since being the Aladdin. My friends and I used to get major comps from Aladdin and that has all but dried up. I also don't like the type of clientele that PH is going for - younger, urban, etc - things just get WAY too rowdy at night - practically EVERY night. Maybe I am just getting old, but for frequent gambling visitors, this is no longer the spot to go."

Aladdin

"Sure, the Aladdin may not be the most popular casino resort in Vegas, but the Suites are pretty nice. They feature a panaromic window that faces the strip, big screen tv, huge bathroom, and even a jacuzzi tub in the middle of the room."

Aladdin - A Phoenix set to resurrect

Reviewed by folashade on January 11, 2007

"This hotel defies description, and not in a good way. The Aladdin left me underwelmed. The good news is that they are are in the process of renovating to convert it to a Planet Hollywood. So expect some renovations and everything to be a bit confusing to get around to several common areas such as checkin. First, let me say that I enjoy walking through the Desert Passage, with its feeling of strolling through Morocco or some other exotic locale. Many of the restaurants are enjoyable, especially Commander’s Palace, the Spice Market Buffet, and PF Chang’s. The theater is spacious, and the seating is comfortable. The staff is pleasant, eager to please, and seem to want to make your stay pleasurable. That’s where the love affair with this hotel ends. The rooms and hallways are shabby. I was excited to hear upon check-in that, due to my status as an Elite member of Starwood, I was upgraded to a Strip-facing room. This was like being upgraded at HoJos – not impressive. The rooms were dark and the carpet was filthy and worn (even after changing rooms twice). The bathrooms looked like they ran out of money during building and so they went with the cheapest tub they could find. In the middle of the bathroom floor, there was a section where, instead of marble tiles, was a patch of dirty carpet. The beds were the worst I have ever slept in. The mattress was hard as a rock and squeaked every time you turned over. The rooms are furnished with an armoire that contains the TV and safe. Despite this, there are some valid reasons to stay at this hotel. If you are just looking for a place to crash and don’t plan to spend time in your room, this is a good hotel. It’s in a prime location being mid-Strip and has a pretty nice pool area. For the price, it’s a steal compared to what the nightly charges are at the Paris next door or the Bellagio across the street. Room service is also prompt and quite good, plus you can order from P.F. Cheng’s. I like the fact that you don’t have to walk through the casino to get to the rooms and there are elevators throughout the casino to get to the different towers of the hotel. Plus, if you are a point junkie, you can get Starwood points for staying at the Aladdin . This hotel is now part of Planet Hollywood, and they are going to build a new luxury tower in conjunction with Westgate resorts and are completing mush needed refurbished. This is also a good Casino to gamble since they seem a lot looser than other Strip Hotels"

You've got to come gamble here...

Reviewed by sassylaurie on December 21, 2006

"I was at the hotel for gambling of all things. As soon as you walk in, they ask you if you want to take a survey, then once you’re done with that, they walk you over to a wheel where you spin for a prize, “like in wheel of fortune.” I actaully won something, a really nice ceramic mug with the hotel’s logo on it. next, I sauntered off to go do some gambling, and they credit you $5.00 of gambling money of which i have not seen anywhere else. So as soon as you put your cardthrough the reader, it says, “Your wish has been granted!” You then get to hear a chime sound and the $5.00 gets credited to your card. I broke even with that $5.00. Won another five after that, then lost five. There were a lot fo peopel there on Saturday, a very crowded place. That kind of sucked."

Nice

"The hotel was clean and nice. When I stayed here they were renovating and the hotel, it was becoming Planet Hollywood. Although there was some construction going on it didn’t interrupt anything and the hotel was still a pleasant place to stay.  It is a nice place to stay and reasonable on prices. Shopping on-site was nice with many popular stores.  The location of the hotel is conveniant to other hotels/casinos.  I would recommend staying here and I look advantage of the opportunity to do it again!"
