The setting for Hitchcock’s thriller “Vertigo,” the York Hotel is an Edwardian style boutique on Nob Hill, three blocks from the cable cars and a short walk to San Francisco’s financial district and Union Square’s high end shopping, theaters, nightlife and dining. Recreational enthusiasts are within 10 miles of biking, rollerblading, boating, fishing, and sailing around the San Francisco Bay. Two miles away, the Presidio Golf Course is a veritable golfer’s oasis.
The York Hotel was born a “speakeasy,” a Prohibition era illegal bar where bootleg liquor and chanteuses ruled the roost. Today, guests can legally enjoy specialty martinis and a cabaret style show at the hotel, where nationally known performers and up and comers entertain before sold out shows.
Guests can start their days with complimentary continental breakfasts, work out in the fitness facility and use the Internet access throughout the hotel. Dining options abound, with everything from steak to sushi just minutes from the hotel.
Non smoking only guestrooms have tables or desks, wireless Internet access, data ports, safes, coffee makers, wet bars and complimentary coffee and tea. Superior King Rooms feature flat screen televisions.
