The Mosser Hotel, located in the heart of downtown San Francisco, combines Old World elegance with sleek sophistication. Guests staying at the Mosser can walk right out the door to Union Square, San Francisco’s hub for swank shopping, exciting entertainment, and fabulous restaurants, as well as some of the city’s most popular attractions, including the Museum of Modern Art and the Moscone Convention Center. The cable car lines and light rail trains are steps away and will whisk guests to anywhere in the Bay Area, including the piers at Fisherman’s Wharf, the bustling streets of Chinatown, and North Beach cafes. Just around the corner, the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts and Metreon Center offer entertainment for all ages. In addition to art exhibits and theater and dance performances, the Yerba Buena Center’s gardens are the spots for free concerts. The Mosser was built for the 1913 Pan American Exposition. The carefully restored hotel showcases beautiful Victorian period fixtures and décor. In 2002, the hotel was redesigned to fuse contemporary interior design with the original Victorian theme with a touch of hip ambience to perfectly combine the history with modern touches. The results were very attractive, snug, and stylish guest rooms, appointed with warm and rich color schemes accented with Asian undertones. Earthy olives, blacks, and tans are offset by fuschia and lime green highlights. The rooms include luxurious linens covering custom platform beds with drawers underneath, plush bathrobes, and CD stereo systems. The hotel’s restaurant, Annabelle’s Bar and Bistro, is a favorite local haunt for classic San Francisco cuisine straight from the bay, from crab cakes and steamed clams, as well as rotisserie chicken. A percentage of the hotel’s profits will fund rain forest restoration and literacy projects. Stay in comfort and style, for a good cause.

Best Deal in SF

Buckminster9's rating:

"The Mosser is the best budget option for anyone looking to stay in the heart of SF. I stayed in a single room with shared bath, which means there are a couple bathrooms (seperate room for shower and toilet) on each floor for the people in the single rooms. They were extremely clean and higher quality than most bathrooms in “nice” hotels (think granite, and lots of it). I always felt I was the only person who used them, since they were kept so clean and were rarely occupied (I think I waited once in 5 days). The room was small, but nicely laid out, with a custom built bed, plenty of closet space, and a sink with mirror. The bed was firm, which I like, but others may not. The TV was tiny and had an alarm feature which I could figure out how to shut off. The alarm clock had a sweet CD player built in, which is handy if you want to keep the window open at night. The location couldn’t be better, right in the middle of the shopping district (so you can drop off your bags before you go back for more) and a short walk to Chinatown. The staff was friendly and they had free organic apples on the concierge desk! So, if you’re travelling alone, or even with a partner and would rather spend your money on what you do in SF rather than a fancy hotel room, go with the Mosser. I paid 1/3 of what it cost for a decent hotel room anywhere else in downtown SF. "
