Summary of The Grove
The Grove
189 The Grove Dr.
Los Angeles, CA 90036
323-900-8080
This charming outdoor plaza is the mall equivalent of a gated community. At times it gives off a Disney theme-park vibe. There’s an old-fashioned trolley, and the synchronized fountains that burst joyfully in time to music (both live and recorded) are sparkling clean. Although there are a few small boutiques, a spa, Bodega Chocolates, and hipster hangouts (Anthropologie, Lucky), mostly you’ll find XL versions of the Gap, Bath & Body Works, Banana Republic, and Abercrombie. From $6 T-shirts at Forever 21 to $600 handbags at Nordstrom, there’s something for every taste (literally – The Grove is adjacent to the Farmer’s Market on Fairfax and 3rd). The movie theater is a bit expensive, but the ushers sure do look cute in their matching red hats and vests. At the food stands you’ll find gourmet sausages and Haagen-Dazs shakes to keep your shopping strength up. Even PC lovers won’t be able to resist the Apple store and all its bright, shiny objects. You could probably shoot, edit, and compose music for a digi-film with the equipment inside. Cheesecake Factory and Maggiano’s Little Italy are the big, standard, family comfort-chains, and the three-story Barnes and Noble has a magazine rack to die for.
